The 2nd Landwehr Division was a large unit of the Prussian Army , from 1917 a large unit of the Württemberg Army in the First World War .

Battle calendar

After the outbreak of the First World War, the association was initially formed as Higher Landwehr Commander No. 2 and renamed the 2nd Landwehr Division after budgeting. The division was only active on the western front .

1914

  • August 22-27 --- Battle of Longwy and the Othain Sector
  • August 28th to September 1st --- Battle of the Meuse crossings
  • September 6th to 12th --- Battle of Vaubecourt -Fleury
  • from September 13th --- position battles around Verdun

1915

  • Position battles around Verdun

1916

  • until February 20 --- trench warfare around Verdun
  • February 21st to September 9th --- Battle of Verdun
  • September 9th to March 31st --- Position battles in front of Verdun
    • December 28th --- Fights on the Dead Man

1917

  • April 1st to September 3rd --- Position battles in front of Verdun
  • September 3 to December 31 --- Trench warfare in the Argonne

1918

  • January 1st to September 25th --- Trench warfare in the Argonne
  • September 26th to October 20th --- Defensive battle in Champagne and on the Meuse
  • October 21st to November 11th --- Position battles in the Woëvre plain and on both sides of the Moselle
  • November 12th to January 4th --- March back through Lorraine , the Rhine provinces and the Palatinate during the armistice
