The Othain rises in the Woëvre landscape , in the municipality of Gondrecourt-Aix , generally drains in a north-westerly direction and flows into the Chiers as a left tributary after 67 kilometers at the municipal boundary of Villécloye and Montmédy . On its way, the Othain crosses the Meurthe-et-Moselle and Meuse departments .
