The 238th Division was a major unit of the Prussian army in the First World War .

The division was formed on January 16, 1917 and used exclusively on the Western Front during the First World War . After the end of the war, the division marched back home, demobilized and finally disbanded.

  • September 28th to October 9th - trench warfare north of the Ailette
  • October 10th to 12th - fighting in front of the Hunding and Brunhilde fronts
  • October 13th - Fights in the dog position
  • October 14th to November 4th - fights in front of and in the Hermann position
    • October 17th to 26th - Fights between Oise and Serre
  • 0November 4th - Battle of Guise
  • 05th to 11th November - fighting in retreat in front of the Antwerp - Meuse position
  • from November 12th - evacuation of the occupied territory and march home
