Heinrich the Pious from Gleißberg
Heinrich the Pious from Gleißberg (* around 1040 probably in Gleißberg an der Elster; † around 1120) was the first imperial Vogt of the Vogtland .
Life
Heinrich was probably born around 1040 in Gleißberg an der Elster (today Veitsberg , part of Wünschendorf / Elster ). He was married twice. On the one hand with Lukarda, the daughter of Count von Leutenburg. From this marriage a daughter and a son were born. On the other hand, he married Juliana, the daughter of Count Sieghard von Schwarzburg. Children also had children from this marriage.
Emperor Heinrich IV appointed Heinrich his marshal and transferred the bailiffs of Weida and Gera to him . Since he had churches built at his new headquarters in Weida as well as in other places, he was nicknamed "the pious". He can be considered the progenitor of the Reuss Princely House , although his descendants did not take the nickname "Reuss" until the 13th century.
Heinrich and his family are buried in the St. Vitus Church.
