Tomasz Zamoyski

Tomasz Zamoyski (* 1. April 1594 , † 7. January 1638 ) was a Polish nobleman , magnate , officials in the civil service and statesman of the Republic of Poland-Lithuania . As the son of Jan Zamoyski and Barbara Zamoyska († 1610), née Tarnowska , he came from the Zamoyski family .

Life

As a civil servant, Tomasz held important state offices in the republic. So he was voivode of Podolia and Kiev . He was also Starost of Knyszyn , Sokal , Nowy Targ , Rabsztyn , Kalusch , Goniądz , Rzeczyce and in 1628 General Starost of Krakow . 1628–1635 Chancellor and from 1635 Grand Chancellor of the Polish Crown .

As the sole heir to his father, he inherited vast fortunes from extensive latifundia . The ancestral seat of the aristocratic family Zamoyski is Zamość .
