Heinrich Wilibald Freiherr von Houwald , since 1840 Count von Houwald (born April 7, 1807 in Straupitz , † April 11, 1884 ibid) was a Prussian count.

Heinrich von Houwald came from the ennobled in the 17th century family Houwald . Her ancestor Christoph von Houwald had become prosperous as a general in the Thirty Years' War , which enabled him not only to acquire goods in East Prussia, but also to acquire the free estate of Straupitz in Niederlausitz. Heinrich von Houwald was the son of the landlord Karl Heinrich von Houwald. The poet Ernst von Houwald was his uncle. Houwald married a cousin, Florentine Freiin von Houwald, with whom he had four children Heinrich (1843–1873), Ernst (1844–1903), Johanna (1849–?) And Otto (1853–1919).

Life

Heinrich von Houwald studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1831 he became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg . He was a freelance gentleman on Straupitz near Lübben and an honorary knight of the Order of St. John . In 1847/1848 he took a seat in the gentleman's curia of the First and Second United State Parliaments . From 1854 until his death in 1884 he took the seat in the Prussian mansion, to which his family was entitled with hereditary rights.
