The Counts and Barons of Houwald are a German noble family from Saxony.

history

The ancestral lord of the family was Christoph Haubal (Haubalt) from Wohlhausen in the Vogtland , a citizen and draper in Grimma. His son, who later became General Christoph von Houwald , was recognized on May 28, 1630 in Sweden with an already existing nobility and coat of arms leadership (" Christophorus ab Houwalth naturaliserad svensk adelsman "). In 1655 the general was admitted to the Herrenbank of the state parliament of the Margraviate of Niederlausitz , which presupposed the descent from German nobility back to at least the fourth generation.

Heinrich von Houwald (1807-1884) was accepted into the Prussian count in 1840. The title of count according to the law of the first-born was linked to the ownership of the Free State of Straupitz . From 1854 the respective count was a member of the Prussian manor house (until its dissolution in 1918).

On March 29, 1913, a sex association was established.

coat of arms

The family coat of arms shows a natural laurel tree in silver on a green ground. On the helmet with blue-silver covers an armored, ungloved sword arm protruding from each side of four green palm branches.
