Gustav von Houwald

Gustav Otto Johannes Freiherr von Houwald (born May 16, 1862 in Köslin , † October 4, 1945 in Potsdam ) was a German administrative lawyer and most recently the government vice-president in Arnsberg .

Life

Gustav von Houwald came from the Saxon noble family Houwald and was the son of Otto Ferdinand Freiherr von Houwald (1818-1894, Privy Councilor, legal knight of the Order of St. John) and his wife Maria von Goetz and Schwanenfliess. After graduating from high school and studying law , he became a government trainee on January 6, 1888, and after the second state examination, he became a government assessor in Opole . Promoted to the government council on November 7, 1900, he moved to the Frankfurt district government . Appointed to the Privy Councilor in February 1914 , he came to the Arnsberg District Government at the end of 1914 as a senior councilor. Here, five years later, he was appointed deputy government president and held the official title of government vice-president . On July 23, 1927, von Houwald retired.

He was a member of the Conservative People's Party .
