Karl von Houwald

Karl Gottlieb von Houwald (born July 16, 1816 at Straupitz Castle ; † January 9, 1883 at Neuhaus Castle in Steinkirchen near Lübben ) was a German administrative officer.

His parents were Karl Heinrich Ferdinand von Houwald (1773-1832) and his second wife Jeanette Karoline, née von Thermo (1787-1837).

Life

Karl von Houwald was born as the son of the free gentleman and district judge Heinrich von Houwald . After visiting the Ritterakademie Brandenburg he studied at the universities of Bonn and Berlin Law and the Eberswalde Forestry Academy Forestry . In 1837 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn . After graduating, he entered the Prussian civil service. From 1845 to 1871 he was the successor to Bernhard von Patow district administrator of the Lübben district . After the death of Julius Wilhelm von Beerfelde in 1871, he became state syndic of Niederlausitz , an office that Bernhard von Patow also held until 1858.

family

He married Veronika Maria Magdalena Johanna Gottliebe von Forstner (1820–1913), a daughter of the Prussian Major General Karl von Forstner , on December 18, 1846 in Berlin . The couple had several children:

  • Georg Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand Leopold (* 1855) ⚭ 1887 Sofie Emilie Friederike Cotta von Cottendorf
