history
Wohlhausen is first mentioned as a Walhusin in 1378. The settlement was laid out as a typical Waldhufendorf . The manor of Wohlhausen, first mentioned in 1606, as well as the manor of Erlbach owned manorial rights. The manor was owned by the von Römer family from 1823 to 1945 .
The place belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office Voigtsberg until 1856 . After 1856 Wohlhausen belonged to the Markneukirchen court office and from 1875 to the Oelsnitz administration . From that time on, the northeastern settlement of Friebus also belonged to Wohlhausen. In 1945 the possessions of the manor were divided up among new farmers . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Wohlhausen came to the Klingenthal district in the Chemnitz district in 1952 (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Klingenthal in 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996.
On January 1, 1994, Wohlhausen was incorporated into Markneukirchen.
