history

The village was first mentioned in 1165. Not yet as a village, but already as a hallway . In 1378 the village was first documented as a place in the “Registrum dominorum marchionum Misznensium” as “Iwenbrunn”. When interpreted, this name means something like "place on the quell stream, which is made up of yew trees" or "the fountain between the yew trees". These and similar names are not uncommon in the vicinity of Eubabrunn, as they indicate a tree in the village. The place was also shaped by the manor formerly located in Eubabrunn and agriculture. The manor Eubabrunn is mentioned around 1600 after the place had been desolate since the second half of the 14th century . Around 1600 the manor Eubabrunn belonged to the von Toss family , who also owned the neighboring manor Erlbach. It changed hands several times after 1624 until it was demolished in 1900 after an arson attack.

Since the 17th century, the village has also been influenced by musical instrument making, which was brought about by Bohemian exiles , i. H. Religious refugees, and brought the area around Markneukirchen the name " Musikwinkel ". Eubabrunn belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Voigtsberg until 1856 . After 1856 the place belonged to the Markneukirchen court office and from 1875 to the Oelsnitz administration .

On June 1, 1936, Eubabrunn was incorporated into Erlbach . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Eubabrunn became part of the Erlbach community in 1952 and became part of the Klingenthal district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon district of Klingenthal in 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996 . With the incorporation of the Erlbach community into the town of Markneukirchen, Eubabrunn became a district of Markneukirchen on January 1, 2014.
