The Erzgebirge / Vogtland Nature Park extends over the upper layers of Vogtland and Erzgebirge in southeast Germany along the state border with the Czech Republic . It is the nature park in Germany with the largest length of 120 km. The supporting organization is the "Zweckverband Naturpark Erzgebirge / Vogtland". It includes the following protected areas :
- 181 Area Natural Monuments (FND)
- 14 landscape protection areas (LSG)
- 45 nature reserves (NSG)
- 48 fauna-flora-habitat areas (FFH)
- 8 bird sanctuaries (SPA)

The nature park with a total area of about 1,495 km² is located between the White Elster in Vogtland and the Freiberger Mulde in the Eastern Ore Mountains at an altitude of about 500 m above sea level and with the Fichtelberg up to 1,215 m and includes all important protected areas, forests, natural monuments that are in in the vicinity of the Elster Mountains and the Ore Mountains Ridge, i.e. in the upper parts of the Western Ore Mountains and Eastern Ore Mountains . It extends over the southern parts of the Vogtlandkreis , the Erzgebirgskreis and the Mittelachsen district , which forms the eastern border of the nature park. From the cities of Plauen , Zwickau , Chemnitz , Freiberg and Dresden , it can be easily reached at a distance of 20 to 50 km both by individual traffic and by public transport through a very dense road network or by bike. In winter, winter sports are available throughout the area . About 5,000 km of signposted hiking trails lead through the area . The area is partly densely populated (approx. 327,000 inhabitants in 92 cities and municipalities) and very well developed for tourism . It is divided into 9% settlement area, 30% agricultural area and 61% forests.
