history
The place is first mentioned in writing in 1301 as the seat of a patron of the bailiffs of Plauen with the name Villa Steyn . The place name Stein is derived from the nearby quartzite rock Hoher Stein .
Until 1850 the village belonged to the Schönbach rulership and then as a district to Kirchberg . In 1919 Stein became an independent municipality. Because of the nearby "Hohen Stein", it was a popular destination , especially for hikers from the neighboring Saxon Vogtland .
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Graslitz district .
Before the German population was expelled after the Second World War , Stein had 45 houses and around 250 residents. Because of the proximity to the border, there was no new settlement and the houses fell into disrepair.
In 1976 Kámen was incorporated into Kraslice.
A large part of the area is used by a local farm as pasture. Stables and other partly dilapidated agricultural buildings characterize the townscape.
