Rudolf Ardelt

Rudolf Ardelt (born July 29, 1912 in Linz , Upper Austria; † February 27, 1987 ) was an Austrian historian and high school professor.

Life

Ardelt studied theology from 1932 to 1936 at the home school of St. Florian Monastery , where his interest in history and archives was aroused. From March 1936 Ardelt studied history, art history and German studies at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in 1939. From 1953 to 1972 he taught at the Academic Gymnasium in Linz. In addition, he repeatedly devoted himself to work in libraries and archives. As a result of this occupation, nine volumes of the Linz Regest as well as the archives and chronicles of the Capuchins, Ursulines, Carmelites, Elisabethines and Brothers of Mercy in Linz can be mentioned.
