Rudolf Zinnhobler (born February 18, 1931 in Buchkirchen near Wels, † March 9, 2016 in Linz ) was an Austrian church historian . From 1969 to 1996 he was Professor of Church History at the Catholic-Theological University in Linz and from 1973 to 1999 he was in charge of the Diocesan Archives in Linz .

Life

Rudolf Zinnhobler was ordained priest in 1955 in the Mariendom Linz. From 1951 to 1956 he studied philosophy and theology in Linz. In 1957 he received his doctorate from the University of Graz . From 1958 to 1964 he studied German and English in Vienna, London, Graz and Innsbruck and graduated with a Magister phil. from. In 1968 he completed his habilitation in church history at the University of Graz.

From 1968 to 1976 he held a teaching position for Austrian church history at the University of Graz and from 1973 to 1974 at the University of Innsbruck . In 1969 he was appointed full professor at the Catholic Theological University in Linz, and in 1996 he retired.

Zinnhobler is buried in the priest grave of the Diocese of Linz on the St. Barbara cemetery in Linz.
