history

The Waldhufendorf Schönlind was mentioned in 1378 under the name "Schonlinde". Around 1412, two farms were counted in the village, which soon fell into desolation. Between 1440 and 1764 Schönlind was considered a desert , according to the information in the Historical Place Name Book of Saxony as early as 1350. Thannhausen at the bottom of Schönlind Strasse, which belonged to Schönlind in 1479, once had four inhabitants, but they only lived in the place for a short time, which makes the place also became desolation. The Brambach manor and the Landwüst parish had usage rights to the corridors . The place was repopulated in the 17th century. In 1793 Schönlind again had five possessed men, six gardeners and one housekeeper . In 1834 Schönlind already had 144 inhabitants. Schönlind belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Voigtsberg until 1856 , to the Adorf court office after 1856 and to the Oelsnitz administration from 1875 .

On July 1, 1950, Schönlind was incorporated into Markneukirchen . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , Schönlind came as a district of Markneukirchen in July 1952 to the Klingenthal district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued in 1990 as the Saxon district of Klingenthal and was added to the Vogtlandkreis in 1996.
