history

Rear raft pond

The place Landesgemeinde in the Upper Vogtland was named in 1542 as "eyn orthwaldes die Lanndesgemeynn ob den dorff Goppelsgruhnn". From 1578 wood was rafted from the valley of the state community , which is why the upper reaches of the Schwarzbach flowing through the village are also known as raft ditches and in the 18th century as raft creek . For the purpose of rafting, the "rear raft pond " was created in 1581 . This collects the water from several sources in the Schwarzbach. Not far from there, the “Vordere Floßteich” was created on a small tributary stream downstream. The wood from the state community was rafted over the Schwarzbach and the White Elster to Leipzig and Halle . As early as 1595, half of the municipality's forest had been chopped down, and forest regulations determined the planned re-forestation. After the rear raft pond had dried up completely in 1922, the water surface could be dammed again with the help of financial support from the Saxon state.

In 1658 a paper mill was built in the village. It was named in a document from 1717 as "Obere Erlbacher Mühle". After a fire in 1860, it was rebuilt a year later. After paper production was given up around 1900, it produced fertilizers until it ceased operations in 1915. A children's home was built on the site in 1921, from which a children's recreation home developed in 1928.

In the 19th century, the state municipality belonged to the southernmost place with further forest settlements in the area around Schöneck / Vogtl. , u. a. Muldenberg and Kottenheide , to the Schönecker forest community . In 1834 the place had 37 inhabitants. State municipality belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office Voigtsberg until 1856 . After 1856, in contrast to the neighboring towns of Erlbach and Gopplasgrün, the place belonged to the Klingenthal court office and from 1875 to the Auerbach administration . Around 1900, Landesgemeinde counted as a district of the northern municipality of Zwota , with which the place was not directly connected by a road.

In 1908, the state community was incorporated into the community of Erlbach (Vogtland) , a few kilometers to the south-west , as a result of which the place changed to the Oelsnitz administration . As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the Landesgemeinde became part of the Erlbach community in 1952 and became the Klingenthal district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which continued in 1990 as the Saxon district of Klingenthal and was added to the Vogtlandkreis in 1996 . With the incorporation of the Erlbach community into the town of Markneukirchen, the state community became a district of Markneukirchen on January 1, 2014.
