history
The first documented mention of "an der Sol" is from 1412. The place belonged to the Voigtsberg office until the 19th century . A population census in 1834 found 556 residents. In the years 1863–65, a single-track railway connection was laid through the place, this was part of the railway construction between Plauen and Eger .
On May 30, 1929, the Sohl volunteer fire brigade was founded.
During the GDR era, the recognized resort developed because of its good rail connections back then ( D-Zug stop and Karlex from Berlin to Bad Elster) and today ( Vogtlandbahn ) with its own stop on the Plauen-Cheb railway line , and easily accessible via the Bundesstraße 92 from Plauen to the Bohemian border region ( Plauen - Eger ), its proximity to Bad Elster and Bad Brambach as well as the thick forest and scenic beauty, part of a recreation and holiday area with supra-regional importance. Sohl still lives mainly from tourism today with offers of private accommodation, holiday apartments and holiday homes for holiday purposes and open spa treatments in Bad Elster.
Sohler mineral water
On April 30, 1538, the "Sohler Säuerlings", a tasty natural mineral water, was mentioned for the first time . The spread of the mineral water was to last until May 1, 1909, when "Sohler Mineralquellen GmbH" went into operation and began shipping. This water is the main reason that the name "Sohl" became known nationwide.
