description

In the valley floodplain of the Hennebach , typical buildings of the village architecture of the southern Vogtland have been gradually rebuilt here after their professional demolition since the museum was founded. There are now 18 buildings from the period from 1720 to 1830 on the approximately 4- hectare open-air area. In addition to various residential, barn and stable buildings, there is also an inn with historical interior furnishings, which is also available to museum visitors as a rest area. The cash register and the museum shop are located in a historic wooden building.

Activities in the course of the year include educational museum offers for children and young people, in which agricultural work can be experienced in a playful way. There are also events on Easter customs and the farming tasks during harvest time . The handling of important agricultural products is in the focus of the museum's events. How the work on a farm in winter works and something about regional Christmas customs can be explored with the help of the open-air museum. The program of events includes demonstrations of almost forgotten housekeeping and handicraft activities, for example pounding scythes , making straw ropes or carving whiskers .

There are also the following exhibition themes:

  • Agricultural reforms of the 19th century and their consequences for the Vogtland,
  • Beginnings of agricultural production cooperatives (LPG) in the southern Vogtland,
  • village music,
  • Electrification in agriculture,
  • Fire department history,
