Reviews

source rating
The Guardian
Entertainment Weekly B.

The album received mostly positive reviews. Metacritic assigned a score of 69/100 points based on 12 reviews. Of these, five were mixed and seven were positive. Alexis Petridis from the Guardian said that the album could convince with heavily written songs like White Flag , Life For Rent or See the Sun , but the much weaker songs Mary's in India , See You When You're 40 or Sand in My Shoes den Would cloud the overall impression. Jim Farber rated the album for Entertainment Weekly . He called it musically weak, since almost all the clichés of trip-hop are used and Dido's voice is sometimes deaf and sluggish. Lyrically, however, it is sharp and the love songs would also remain down-to-earth. Derryck Strachan marked the album for the BBC as a continuation of their debut album No Angel . It would again contain excellent folk pop, but also show Dido's lack of musical development. He called the production "perfect" and praised the blending of effortless melodies with seamless backing tracks. However, in addition to the "edgier" Who Makes You Feel and the funky sand in My Shoes, he wished for a little more courage.
