The number one hits in the music industry in Switzerland have been determined by Media Control since 1983 . The benchmark is the sales figures of the singles within a week (previously also the airplay of the radio stations). An annual hit parade is put together at the end of the year.

The first Swiss single hit parade was published on January 2, 1968; the first album hit parade followed on November 6, 1983.
