Falco 3 is the third studio album by the Austrian musician Falco . After the moderate success of its predecessor Junge Roemer , the album consisted almost exclusively of titles influenced by pop music . Falco 3 was Falco's only album that hit the UK charts. The album also made it to # 3 on the Billboard 200 in the US and # 18 on the R&B album chart .
background
After his first two albums were produced by Robert Ponger , Falco 3 was produced by Dutch producers Rob and Ferdi Bolland . It took two months for the album to be completed in the summer of 1985. Without You , Falco had to sort out one of his self-composed songs from the album. However, Falco sang Without You at several concerts on his promo tour and announced: "This song is for you, it comes on the 3 LP". However, because of the views of his record company, he was unable to keep this promise.
The first promo single, Rock Me Amadeus , was viewed in the media as a song with international format even before it entered the chart and immediately rose to number 1 in the Austrian charts. In the summer of 1985, Falco performed songs from the new album for the first time on a promo tour. One of the highlights was the performance at the Wiener Festwochen between the town hall and the Burgtheater .

Remarks
Tracks 1 to 5 are on page 1 of the LP , tracks 6 to 10 on page 2. Except for tracks 8 and 10, which Falco produced, the tracks were arranged and produced by Rob and Ferdi Bolland. All tracks are listed as special remixes on the album cover of the European version, but are the usual European versions of the singles. The American, British and Japanese versions of Falco 3 contain the Salieri version of Rock Me Amadeus and the Vienna Calling - Metternich Arrival Version instead of the European versions of Rock Me Amadeus and Vienna Calling .
rock Me Amadeus
The first single from Falco 3 was Rock Me Amadeus . It was successfully placed in the charts in May 1985. After the great success in the German-speaking market, the album was released worldwide and was very well received. In March 1986, Rock Me Amadeus reached number 1 on the US and UK charts. It is the only German-language song to date that reached number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 . This was a burden for Falco as he believed that from now on he would be measured by the success of Rock Me Amadeus . In the summer of 1985, the second single Vienna Calling was released , with which Falco was able to record success in the USA as well as throughout Europe.
Jeanny
The title Jeanny was published in late 1985 and rose to number 1 in the German, Austrian and Swiss charts in early 1986. Heated discussions were held about the plot of the song. In many cases, the text and the music video were described as glorifying violence, as both elements indicated Jeanny's killing. The killing of Jeanny is not shown in the music video. At the end of the video, Jeanny Falco teases - but this is proof that the imaginary character Jeanny is alive. Due to the protests, all music channels boycotted the video and it was no longer broadcast. Falco asserted that the song was a ballad and not a call to kill young girls. Nevertheless, the single sold 2.5 million times in Germany alone and the song stayed at number 1 for two months.
Technical error when mastering the CD
The CD version of this album contains (apart from the German Teldec first edition and the American, English and Japanese versions) an error in the song It's All Over Now, Baby Blue . While the original running time of this title should be 4:41 minutes, the song lasts more than 5 minutes on the CD edition (the running time is only correct for the 1st pressing from 1985 and the 2nd pressing from 1987). The reason lies in a loop that was overlooked in an incorrect mastering. So after exactly 2:09 minutes the last 25 seconds are repeated. The best-of-compilation High as never avoids this mistake by offering this song in a new "Rough Mix", which was not released until 2007. The Falco 3 - 25th Anniversary Edition contains the correctly mastered song recorded in 1985 instead of the faulty song.
