LV , also LV , is the pseudonym of the American singer and rapper Larry James Sanders (* 1957 in Los Angeles , California ) and means L arge V ariety (German: Large variety).

Career

Larry Sanders sang while high school and won a talent competition with LTD's Concentrate on You . He became a member of the Los Angeles City College Choir. As a member of the rap group South Central Cartel , Sanders gained experience in rap and R&B in the early 1990s . The musician achieved great fame in 1995 as the singer of the chorus of Coolio's number one hit Gangsta’s Paradise .

In the same year LV signed a record deal with the hip-hop - label Tommy Boy Records . His debut album as a solo artist was called I Am LV and contained a mix of pop and rap. The single Throw Your Hands Up , on the B-side of which there was an own version of Gangsta's Paradise , reached number 46 in the German single charts . In the following years there were features with Array, Mel-Low and Naughty by Nature . At the end of 2000 the second solo album How Long was released .

LV survived when he was hit by nine shots at close range. After eight months in the hospital, he was in a wheelchair for over a year, but made a full recovery.
