Daddy Cool is a pop song from 1976. The piece was the first big success of the disco group Boney M. and was number one in the charts in numerous European countries.

History of origin

When the final formation of Boney M. was found in February 1976 with Bobby Farrell , Maizie Williams , Marcia Barrett and Liz Mitchell , Frank Farian began recording the group's first album, Take the Heat Off Me . From this, Daddy Cool was released as a single on May 31, 1976 , before the LP was released on June 28, 1976. The song was written by Farian and George Reyam. The vocals were also from Farian and Boney-M. members Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett. The B-side was a cover version of Reggae -title No Woman, No Cry selected.

Sales of the single were bad until television producer Michael "Mike" Leckebusch invited the still completely unknown formation to the music show Musikladen for September 18, 1976. The million mark has been exceeded worldwide.
