Maizie Ursula Williams (born March 25, 1951 in Montserrat , West Indies ) is a Caribbean - British singer .

Life

Maizie Williams was born on the Caribbean island of Montserrat. Her family emigrated to Great Britain. She attended school in Birmingham and was voted "Miss Black & Beautiful" in Brighton . The title gave her first band "The Black Beautiful People" the name.

Williams was next to the two Jamaican singers Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett and the from Aruba originating dancer Bobby Farrell member of the musically and commercially very successful in the 1970s and 1980s pop group Boney M. For this, she was in 1975 by the German record producer Frank Farian cast Service. During the years at Boney M, she officially appeared in all live and television appearances as a singer with the group, but was actually not involved in the musical production. When recording all the tracks and the sound recordings in the studio for the singles and LPs, only Mitchell, Barrett and Farian sang.

Maizie Williams was not invited to the premiere of the Frank Farian musical Daddy Cool in London in 2006 because, in Farian's opinion, like other former members of Boney M., she illegally appears under this name, for example at Kraków's New Year's Eve 2007.

In 2006 she released the solo album Call Upon Jesus . In 2007 she sang on a Daddy-Cool cover version of the Latvian band Melo-M . In 2008 she appeared in the popular Bulgarian TV show Shouto na Slavi (Шоуто на Слави).

Williams was in a relationship with Tommy Fuchsberger for a while.
