Thomas Fuchsberger
Thomas-Michael Fuchsberger (born August 5, 1957 in Munich ; † October 14, 2010 in Kulmbach ) was a German pop singer , composer , director , photographer and author .
Life
Thomas Fuchsberger was born in 1957 in Munich as the son of the actor Joachim Fuchsberger and his second wife, the actress Gundula Korte . After graduating from high school in 1977, he studied music at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich . From there he moved to the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1979 . During this time the first recordings were made in Nashville . Since the 1970s he has also worked as a freelance photographer for tabloids such as tz , Abendzeitung and Bild, which appear in Munich .
He became known to a wide audience in Germany through his participation in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 . He performed the song Josephine here as a singer , composing the music himself and his father contributing the lyrics. The song took seventh of a total of twelve places in the vote. In the following year he again took part in the German preliminary round. For the show A Song for Harrogate he composed the song I would like to be with you , the lyrics of which were also from his father. The song performed by singer Jürgen Marcus landed in fifth place in the final vote. Fuchsberger released a total of 35 singles, including the top ten hit Black & White in 1984 as the lead singer of the group TMF and as part of the duo Patto , as well as ten long-playing records / CDs.
He also worked as a film composer for television series such as Großstadtrevier and Ein Schloß am Wörthersee or entertainment programs such as Pssst ... He also appeared as a composer for advertising films. Here included Kraft Foods , the cosmetics company Astor and L'Oréal and the car manufacturers Daimler and BMW among its customers. In 2008, after a musical hiatus of several years, he released the music CD Sentinel .
Thomas Fuchsberger also wrote the film music for the television series Terra Australis , in which his father presented his second adopted home to the television audience. He also worked as a still photographer on this production and directed some of the 21 episodes. For the book In 47 Days Around Australia , which resulted from this series , father and son Fuchsberger were jointly responsible as authors, the photos of the book came from Thomas Fuchsberger.
Further book publications by Thomas Fuchsberger were related to his diabetes , which he had suffered from since 1977. His experiences with the disease and his travel experiences also flowed into several cookbooks for diabetics. From 2002 he moderated the television program X-Faktor: Wahre Lügen on the TV station RTL II .
There are two adult children from a divorced marriage. In the last years of his life, Fuchsberger lived with the actress Cornelia Corba . He drowned on October 14, 2010 in the Mühlbach in Kulmbach - probably because of a faint attack caused by hypoglycemia . His final resting place is in the forest cemetery in the Munich suburb of Grünwald .
