Rhythm Is a Dancer is a published on 30 March 1992 Song of the Dance - group Snap! The song reached number 1 in numerous charts and is considered the first big hit of the Eurodance wave that began in 1992 .
Text and music
The title was written by Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti using their pseudonyms Benito Benites and John "Virgo" Garrett III as well as Thea Austin and Durron Butler. The song's singer is Thea Austin, the rap comes from Turbo B. Rhythm Is a Dancer is based on the song Auto-Man from 1984 by the American electro and hip hop group Newcleus .
Music video
The music video was directed by Howard Greenhalgh. It shows the singer Thea Austin and a band in the "Rocket Garden" of the visitor center in the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, which is filled with a lot of fog. The singer and the group act on moving platforms , while below them dancers dance on a fixed platform. Semi-transparent digital recordings of flickering flight navigation maps, animated geometric figures as well as cloud fields and people dancing are integrated into the scenes .

Rhythm Is a Dancer was the second single from Snap !, which reached number 1 in the UK - where the song topped the charts for six weeks from August 1992. In Germany the title climbed to number 1, and in early 1993 it reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States of America . In France , the song entered the charts at number 5 on August 8, 1992, before climbing to the top four weeks later and staying there for six weeks. In the French charts, Rhythm Is a Dancer was the first dance single at number 1.
In May 2003, a remix reached position 17 in the UK Top 40 charts.
On May 25, 2008, Rhythm Is a Dancer entered the UK Top 40 at number 36 and climbed to number 23 two weeks later. BBC Radio 1 DJs Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates speculated that this was due to a commercial for there was a water called "Drench".
