Corona (band)

Corona is an Italian Eurodance act, which is mainly known for the voice of Sandra "Sandy" Chambers .

Band history

In addition to Corona, she also sang for numerous other Italian dance floor projects (including JK , Benassi Bros. ). As was not unusual in the 1990s, a model was hired as the face and figurehead of the project. In the case of Corona, it was the Brazilian Olga de Souza (born July 16, 1968 in Rio de Janeiro ). Produced by Francesco Bontempi (better known as Lee Marrow), they had a hit in December 1993 with The Rhythm of the Night , which was number 1 in the Italian charts for eight weeks. The vocals on this song is from Jenny B .

Sandra Chambers then took over all of the vocal parts, with the result that the title was also high in the charts in the rest of Europe in the summer of 1994. It was followed by Baby Baby , then Try Me Out in July 1995, and finally I Don't Wanna Be a Star . Further singles from 1997 and 2000 could not build on the first successes.

After Bontempi, the producers Francesco Conte and Paolo Dughero have been continuing the Corona act since 2000 with rather moderate success and a different musical style. Allegedly Olga de Souza sings herself here.

In 2012, the German dance project Cascada released its own version of The Rhythm of the Night , which also hit the charts. In 2013 the band Bastille put on a medley of Corona's The Rhythm of the Night and Rhythm Is a Dancer by Snap! new on.
