life and career
Watson comes from Mornington Peninsula in the Australian state of Victoria . In high school she learned to play the keyboard and drum pad . At that time she was already making her first appearances under her real name in her home country, including at the Let Go Fest festival . 2017 Watson received by the stage name sound and I permission to street music in the center of Melbourne . In the same year she also performed in Byron Bay and became a popular street musician. She quit her retail job and moved to Byron Bay. At the end of 2018 she won the street musician competition at Buskers by the Creek , Australia's largest street music festival.
In March 2019, she released her debut single Johnny Run Away , which entered the ARIA charts in May and reached number 12. The two follow-up singles Dance Monkey and Never Seen the Rain also hit the single charts immediately after their releases. After several live performances, including at the Splendor in the Grass festival , Dance Monkey rose to the top of the Australian singles charts in August 2019 as the first song by an Australian artist in a year . Dance Monkey placed in the music charts worldwide, among others in several Scandinavian countries on the top position. The song also reached number one in the singles charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in September 2019. In August 2019 she released her debut EP The Kids Are Coming with six titles.
