Wolfgang Uebel
Wolfgang A. Uebel (born November 21, 1932 in Wohlhausen ) is a 10th generation master violin maker.
He is also a master guitar builder and builder of various other plucked and string instruments, as well as a restorer of historical instruments. The Vogtland violin making family Uebel can be traced back to the violin maker Johann Christian Uebel (1710 to 1782 in Markneukirchen / Klingenthal ). Wolfgang Uebel has lived in Celle since 1964 .
Professional background
- Attended the violin making college from 1947 to 1951 in Markneukirchen. At the same time apprenticeship with Heinrich Th. Heberlein jr. (Markneukirchen). 1 year apprenticeship at Arnold Voigt (Markneukirchen).
- 1952 journeyman with Peter Harlan (Sternberg Castle). There collaboration with the musicologist Prof. Dr. Dr. Erich Valentin from Detmold / Munich.
- 1958 Restoration of the Moeck string instrument collection in Celle .
- 1964 Opening of the own workshop in Celle.
- 1965 to 1975 collaboration with the Early Music Shop London.
- 1970 to 1971 restoration work for the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Ashmolean Museum Oxford (The Hill Collection).
- 1973 master craftsman examination in Nuremberg.
- Works for Goethe-Instituts in 14 countries ( viol copies of old masters).
- Work for the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn , 7 replicas of historical instruments.
