Heinrich von Knapp

Georg Heinrich von Knapp (born October 2, 1827 in Wesel ; † February 12, 1904 in Barmen ) was a German soap manufacturer and member of the Prussian House of Representatives in the 18th legislative period (1895–1898), 19th legislative period (1898–1903) and 20th legislative period (1903–1908). He was a partner in the house "GH Orth" in Barmen, a business owned by his father-in-law.

Life

Von Knapp attended secondary school and grammar school in Elberfeld . From 1865 he was a city councilor and for the National Liberal Party he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency of Düsseldorf 2 (Elberfeld, Barmen) from 1895 until his death.

family

Von Knapp married Emma Christina Orth (1829–1907) on June 4, 1856. The marriage resulted in a son Carl von Knapp (1860–1943) and a daughter. Emma von Knapp (1863–1907) married the entrepreneur Adolf Vorwerk (1853–1925), the co-founder and later sole owner of the company Vorwerk & Sohn in Barmen.
