Heinz-Gerold Manschus

Heinz-Gerold Manschus (born November 25, 1950 ) was a football player in Rostock and Stralsund . For FC Hansa Rostock and ASG Vorwärts Stralsund , he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR football association .

Manschus' start in men's football began on October 12, 1969 in the 2nd team of FC Hansa Rostock in the league game of the second-rate GDR league FC Hansa II - Chemie Wolfen (2: 1) as a substitute. This was followed by three more GDR league appearances for the 19-year-old over 90 minutes as a midfielder or attacker by the end of the 1969/70 season. Until 1972 Manschus was always in the squad of the 2nd Hansa team. As early as 1970/71 he was part of the team as a right winger and played 22 of the 26 point games. He stayed without a goal this season, he came in 1971/72 in his 20 of 22 league games on three goals. On April 1, 1972, Manschus played his only league game for FC Hansa. In the encounter on the 22nd matchday between Sachsenring Zwickau and FC Hansa (2-0), he was substituted on in the 61st minute. At the beginning of the 1972/73 season, Manschus began to play continuously in midfield for the first time. After he had completed the first nine point games for Hansa II, he had to start his military service on November 1, 1972. By this time he had played 55 point games for Hansa Rostock II and scored four goals.

During his time in the army, Manschus played for the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts Stralsund. Until the 1973/74 season he was represented with the ASG in the GDR league, after which the forward team rose to the league. Manschus was involved in this success as a right winger with 19 point and eight promotion games and was Stralsund's top scorer with ten goals. In the league season 1974/75 Manschus only missed a point game. First he was used as a center forward, from matchday 19 to the end of the season he played on the right attacking side. With his four goals he was the second best scorer of his team, behind Jürgen Siermann with five goals. Manschus was in the starting line-up in all of his league games, and was substituted on five times. Forward Stralsund could only hold in the league for one season. After relegation, Manschus played two seasons with ASG in the GDR league, in which he played a total of 31 games. After the end of the 1976/77 season, Manschus ended his competitive sports career.

From 1991 to 1994 Manschus coached the UFC Arminia Rostock regional league team.
