Heinz Alt

Heinz Alt (* 1922 ; † January 6, 1945 in Dachau ) was a German composer and a victim of the Nazi regime .

Life

Little is known about Heinz Alt, who appeared as a composer with Viktor Ullmann , Gideon Klein , Pavel Haas , Hans Krása and others in the Theresienstadt concentration camp . He came to Theresienstadt from Ostrava in June 1943 . A performance of his 6 miniatures for piano (in the second concert “Studio for New Music” under the direction of Viktor Ullmann) and a piano accompaniment for Das bohmische Lied von Smetana , which he performed for an event on his 60th birthday , is known through his participation in cultural life there . Day of death (May 12, 1884). Karel Reiner was the pianist at the time and the bassist Karel Berman was the singer . In September 1944, Heinz Alt was deported to Auschwitz , then to the Dachau concentration camp , where he died on January 6, 1945.
