Heinz B. Wiggers

Heinz Bernhard Wiggers (born October 7, 1944 in Vreden ) is a German businessman and classical archaeologist .

Life

Heinz B. Wiggers attended the Progymnasium Vreden and the Gymnasium Paulinum in Münster , where he passed the Abitur (including the Hebraicum ) in February 1964 . From the summer semester 1964 to the summer semester 1969 he studied classical studies at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In addition to his major in archeology, he also attended events in the historical auxiliary sciences ( numismatics ) and in the subjects of art history , ancient history, and prehistory . During his studies, he undertook several research trips to the Mediterranean countries under the direction of the archaeologist Max Wegner . In 1968, in preparation for his dissertation, Wiggers spent almost all of the year in Rome and North Africa. On August 26, 1969, he was awarded the title “summa cum laude” for his dissertation The Portraits of Caracalla. phil. PhD . It was published in an expanded form in 1971 (including the portraits of Getas and Plautilla ) in Max Wegner's series The Roman Emperor .

In addition to his dissertation, Wiggers wrote articles as a student for Little Pauly and for Pauly's Real Encyclopedia of Classical Antiquity (RE).

Wiggers is commercially active.
