Heinz Bitzan

Heinz Bitzan (born February 21, 1892 in Linz ; † April 7, 1965 there ) was an Austrian artisan , book designer , bookbinder and amateur photographer .

Live and act

Heinz Bitzan is a graduate of the art class at the Berlin bookbinding school and worked for many years in art bookbinding in Germany.

In 1919 he founded his own workshop in Linz. He was a member of the Amateur Photography Association Linz and in 1932 a founding member of the Art Photography Association Linz. In the 1930s he belonged to the Linz school of soft focus art photographers .

From 1941 to 1946 and from 1949 to 1960 he was the regional guild master for bookbinders and cardboard manufacturers. In 1954 he was commissioned to design the city of Linz's guest book.

Together with Klemens and Franz Brosch , Franz Sedlacek , Anton Lutz and Hans Pollack, Bitzan was one of the founders of the March artists' association .

The winter landscape photo (felled wood) is in the Lentos collection and was used as the cover for an exhibition catalog.
