57th Street (Manhattan)
The 57th Street is a major street in New York City's borough Manhattan . It is one of the main thoroughfares and is located in the Midtown Manhattan area . The road runs in a west-east direction from the docks on the Hudson River to a small park on the East River . Between Fifth and Eighth Avenues , it's two blocks south of Central Park . 57th Street is known for expensive art galleries, expensive apartment buildings, restaurants, and office buildings.
From west to east
57th Street crosses various districts over its three kilometers. The first block ends on 12th Avenue on the banks of the Hudson River, where the VIA West 57 building is located. From here to Tenth Avenue are small industrial buildings, apartment buildings and car dealerships. The CBS Broadcast Center followed . In the later 1980s the address was used for a series on CBS called "West 57th".
Higher residential buildings follow from 10th Avenue to Eighth Avenue . This is followed by tall hotels (such as Le Parker Meridien) and a number of well-known restaurants (such as the Russian Tea Room ). The offices of numerous magazines, such as The Economist, follow between Seventh Avenue and Sixth Avenue . Continuing on the road, you will come to Carnegie Hall .
To the east of Sixth Avenue are elegant and expensive shops such as B. Van Cleef and Arpels , Tiffany and Bergdorf Goodman . At the corners of 57th Street, Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue, there are properties that are among the most expensive in the world. On the block bordered by Madison Avenue, 56th Street, 57th Street, and Park Avenue is the 432 Park Avenue skyscraper . This is the second tallest building in the city and would have towered over the old World Trade Center . This and other nearby skyscrapers are collectively known as Billionaires' Row . In the neighboring block (bounded by Madison Avenue, 56th Street, 57th Street and Fifth Avenue) is the Trump Tower of the American billionaire Donald Trump . Business continues to the corner with Third Avenue . This is followed by exclusive apartment blocks with entrance halls that are guarded by doormen to the end of the street.
57th Street ends at the small park on the East River east of Sutton Place .
