Heinz Brestel

Heinz Brestel (born June 12, 1922 in Landsberg an der Warthe ; † April 14, 2009 in Mendrisio , Switzerland ) was a German journalist and publicist .

life and work

Brestel was born in 1922 as the son of a Reichsbahn official. Since 1948 he worked as a journalist. In 1973 he moved from the Frankfurt headquarters of the FAZ to Zurich as a correspondent. After his official retirement in 1987, he continued to work as a journalist and author. In addition to his work for the newspaper, he published several books on financial topics. In Germany he achieved particular fame through the column "Blick aus Zürich", which appeared regularly in the FAZ until 2007.
