Heinz Burger (politician)

Heinz Burger (born March 24, 1928 in Hirstein ; † September 12, 1998 in Dörrenbach ) was a German SPD politician .

Life and career

Burger established his professional career in public administration by taking the first and second administrative examination and attending the Administration Academy. However, since he took part in the Second World War towards the end of the war and was taken prisoner , he was only able to start working in 1947. Most recently he held the post of government director in Ottweiler .

Burger was married.

Burger belonged to the SPD, in which he was, among other things, chairman of the St. Wendel sub-district, and was politically active for many years: he was a member of the local council and district council in St. Wendel and was second district member from 1960 to 1966. From 1962 to 1966 he was also honorary mayor of his hometown Hirstein. On January 12, 1963, he replaced the late Josef Lutz in the Saarland state parliament , to which he was re-elected in 1965 until he left parliament in 1970. Since October 3, 1966, Burger has held the office of mayor of the district town of Ottweiler for more than twenty years.
