Heinz Dieter Essmann

Heinz Dieter Eßmann (born November 17, 1938 in Wolfenbüttel ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Eßmann attended a secondary school , then did an apprenticeship as a wholesale clerk and car mechanic and finally an evening school education as a business economist and advertising clerk . He worked as an authorized signatory and marketing manager in a group of companies in the automotive industry. He was also chairman of MTV Wolfenbüttel .

In 1966 Essmann joined the CDU. There he was initially a member of the Lower Saxony Council of the Junge Union , later he was represented in the Federal Defense Advisory Council and in the Federal Sports Committee. He was also chairman of the CDU city association in Wolfenbüttel . There he was a member of the city council from 1972 and mayor from 1974 to 1996. From 1968 to 1996 he was also a member of the district council , where he was group chairman for a time. From 1994 to 1998 Eßmann sat in the German Bundestag . He was elected via the Lower Saxony state list.
