Heinz Gärtner (politician)

Heinz Gärtner (born March 2, 1922 in Grades ; † March 23, 2019 in Friesach (Carinthia) ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and elementary school director. Gärtner was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1979 and 1986 .

After compulsory schooling, Gärtner attended a secondary school and graduated from the teacher training college. He then worked professionally as an elementary school teacher and elementary school director and was appointed to the high school board.

Gärtner was involved at the beginning of his political career as a local councilor in Friesach , to which he was a member between 1964 and 1979. He also held the office of First Vice Mayor. In addition, Gärtner was active in the district school council and in the teachers 'representation, where he was a member of the district school council and the school community association of St. Veit an der Glan, from 1979 the function of the district chairman of the socialist teachers' association Austria in the district of St. Veit an der Glan and as Member of the state management of the socialist teachers' association. Within the party, he was also involved as deputy chairman of the SPÖ St. Veit an der Glan, as a member of the state control of the SPÖ Carinthia and as a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Carinthia. At the end of his political career he held the office of Federal Deputy Chairman of the Pensioners' Association of Austria.

Gärtner represented the SPÖ from June 5, 1979 to September 12, 1986 in the National Council.

His son is the political scientist Heinz Gärtner .
