Heinz Jaeger

Werner Karl-Heinz Adolf Jaeger , also hunter (born May 8, 1924 in Grafenhausen ) is a German doctor and philatelist .

biography

From 1943 Jaeger studied medicine in Freiburg im Breisgau , where he joined the Corps Suevia Freiburg . He took part in World War II and passed his state examination in 1950. He later worked as a senior physician at the Lörrach district hospital . As a specialist in internal diseases , he opened his own practice in Lörrach in 1963.

Jaeger was President of the Association of German Philatelists (BDPh) from 1973 to 1991 and has been its Honorary President since then. Since 1968 he has also been a member of the Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Postal History, and from 1973 to 1991 also its long-term president. During his tenure as President of the BDPh he succeeded in increasing the reputation of the BDPh at home and abroad. As a leading BDPh functionary he was u. a. also member of the program advisory board of DBP / Deutsche Post (1972–2002) and member of the art advisory board (1970–1972). Since 1987 he has been included in the British Roll of Distinguished Philatelists . In 2014, an anthology of his speeches was published in honor of his 90th birthday.
