Heinz Ludwig Singer (born December 18, 1928 in Großen-Linden ; † May 4, 2010 ) was a German biologist.

Singer received his doctorate from the University of Giessen in 1960 . He was a professor and, until his retirement in 1996, was director of the Viroid Research Department at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry in Martinsried near Munich. The focus of his scientific work was on phytopathogenic viruses and viroids.

After his retirement, he expressed doubts about the existence of the HI virus and its connection to the infectious disease AIDS .
