Heinz Manger

Heinz Manger (born August 18, 1897 in Kassel ; † July 21, 1977 in Hammersbach ) was a German police officer and SS leader, most recently police chief in Münster and SS chief in the Reich Main Security Office .

Career

After attending the Oberrealgymnasium on April 3, 1915, Heinz Manger reported as a war volunteer and came to Airship Replacement Department 5 in Liegnitz. Before he became vice sergeant and officer candidate in 1918, he worked in various military airship departments. Dismissed from military service, Manger studied electrical engineering at the polytechnic school in Friedberg / Hessen . On March 10, 1933, he became an SS candidate in the 2nd SS standard and was tasked with setting up the SS-Sturmbanns III / 2 intelligence unit. On April 1, 1934, he became its leader. In February 1935 he changed to the staff in the SS main office and was SS-Untersturmführer in the main department. From January 30, 1936, he assumed the position of Führer in the staff of the SS main office and remained in this office until he switched to the Waffen SS on January 1, 1940. On May 29, 1942, Manger temporarily took over the official business of the police chief in Münster, in August 1943 he became the final police chief and remained in office until his arrest in 1945. Manger was interned after the war and in 1948 after his release in denazification sentenced to a prison term of two and a half years, which was considered a serving.

Heinz Manger was a member of the NSDAP (membership number 989.322) from March 1, 1932 and joined the SS on February 2, 1932 (membership number 71.911).
