Heinz Prammer

Heinz Prammer (born January 18, 1950 in Oberneukirchen ) is an Austrian conductor , composer and cultural manager .

Life

After completing school at Wilhering Abbey High School , where he was taught music and singing by Balduin Sulzer , Prammer studied composition , conducting and percussion at the Vienna University of Music . From 1975 to 1979 he taught composition, music history , form and harmony at the Vienna Conservatory , where he also directed the orchestra. He later worked as artistic director of the Schallaburg summer opera (1984–87) and the Vienna Mozart Week (1996–99), as director of the New Vienna Baroque Ensemble (1979–89) and as chief conductor and director of the Austrian Chamber Harmony . From 1998 to 2002 Prammer was President of the European Art and Culture Association . Since 2003 he has been President of European Cultural Services .

Heinz Prammer is often active as a guest conductor in Eastern and Southeastern Europe and can be heard on tours and in radio and television appearances. He also works as a freelance composer .
