Heinz Trenczak (born January 3, 1944 in Graz ) is an Austrian director and author . He lives and works in Graz and Cologne .

Life and career

Trenczak studied music at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and in Cologne with Mauricio Kagel from 1965 to 1969 . From winter 1969 to spring 1970 he undertook an extensive lecture tour through India on behalf of the Goethe Institute on the subject of music and movement education for children (Orff-Schulwerk). From 1971 to 1984 Trenczak was music editor at WDR Cologne (television). During this time he worked as a writer and director on various features, portraits and documentaries. In the summer of 1979 Heinz Trenczak received a USA scholarship from the John J. McCloy Foundation and the American Council on Germany .

In 1984 he was responsible for the programming and organization of the 12th Graz Film Festival in “ Styrian Autumn ” together with Peter Zach on the topic of “MusicFilm in Cinema and TV”. From 1985 to 1995 he worked as an editor for the Austrian film magazine " Blimp " (publisher: Grazer Filmwerkstatt).

In the autumn of 1992, several film seminars followed on behalf of the Goethe Institute on the topic of "Borderlands of Documentary Film" in Southeast Asia.

Heinz Trenczak has been the producer of Vis-à-vis Film in Cologne since 1990.
