Heinz Ufer (archivist)

Heinz Ufer (born December 8, 1926 in Freiberg , † December 22, 1975 ) was a German archivist and local history researcher .

Life

Ufer was born in the Saxon mountain town of Freiberg in the Ore Mountains and experienced the turmoil of World War II in his youth. After attending school, he started an apprenticeship as a precision mechanic . But he soon discovered his fondness for local history and archiving and was given a position at the Freiberg City Archives, which he later took over. Heinz Ufer published a number of essays on local history, including on the local page of the Free Press and in Die Blende. Home pages of the districts of Freiberg and Brand-Erbisdorf . However, he was particularly known for his Brockhaus traveling booklet Freiberg, which was published in several large editionsand by the posthumously published Brockhaus city guide Freiberg .

Heinz Ufer had been married since 1950 and had two children.
