Heinz Voigt (local history researcher)

Heinz Voigt (born May 5, 1917 in Leipzig ; † July 22, 1998 ) was a German homeland researcher.

Life

Heinz Voigt was born in 1917 as the son of the opera singer Alfred Voigt and Maria geb. Schmidt was born in the Gohlis district of Leipzig . After attending elementary schools in Gera and Leipzig, he passed the secondary school leaving exam in 1935. He then completed an apprenticeship as a clerk at the Leipzig Barmenia Association . He successfully passed the examination at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Leipzig and then worked as an accountant in the aforementioned health insurance until March 31, 1946.

He then worked for a private helper in tax matters and an auditor as well as at Wölcke GmbH in Böhlitz-Ehrenberg , before moving to VEB Galvanotechnik Leipzig on March 1, 1948, where he last worked as a group leader until he was 65 in 1982 .

In addition to his professional activity, Heinz Voigt performed numerous honorary functions. For over 30 years he was a member of the management of the urban history department in the GDR Cultural Association . In Leipzig he was a member of the board of directors of the local history association. In 1993 he was one of the founding members of the Saxon Economic Archives eV

Heinz Voigt published several of his research results on the local history, mainly in the local press, but also in two monographs.

Honors

The Saxon Economic Archives Association dedicated a commemorative publication to him on the occasion of his 80th birthday in 1997.

Heinz Voigt's scientific estate of 8 running meters is managed today in the Saxon Economic Archives under the name N 1. It mainly comprises material on Leipzig's economic history from 1921 to 1998.
