Helen Hellwig
Helen Rebecca Hellwig (born March 1874 in Brooklyn - † November 26, 1960 ) was an American tennis player .
In 1894 Hellwig won the American tennis championships (now the US Open ) against last year's winner Aline Terry in five sets with 7: 5, 3: 6, 6: 0, 3: 6 and 6: 3. In doubles, she and her compatriot Juliette Atkinson won in three sets with 6: 4, 8: 6 and 6: 2 against Arny Williams and Annabella Wistar . In 1985 she lost the singles final against her doubles partner Juliette Atkinson in three sets with 4: 6, 2: 6 and 1: 6. She was able to win the doubles competition again this year with Atkinson against Elisabeth Moore and Arny Williams in three sets with 6: 2, 6: 2 and 12:10.
