Helen Knopp-Rupertsberger

Helen Knopp-Rupertsberger also Knopp or Rupertsberger-Knopp (born September 21, 1942 ) is an Austrian painter , textile artist , local politician ( Die Grünen - Die Grüne Alternative ) in the Viennese district of Josefstadt and university teacher .

Live and act

The artist, who lives and works in Vienna, studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London and at the Academy for Applied Arts Vienna .

She worked as a textile technician in London. During her stay in Colombia , she advised craft cooperatives. In New York City , she worked for a textile company with designs and technical work. For 15 years she taught at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz . For several years she ran the gallery A41, Galerie im Hof, in Vienna together with Michael C. Niki Knopp . She appears as an employee of the Josefstadt district museum .

She has been a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien association since 1978, and of the MAERZ artists association since 1982 .

As part of her party-political engagement, she initiated the installation of a memorial plaque for Hugo Bettauer (* August 18, 1872, † March 26, 1925), writer, journalist and victim of National Socialism.

Knopp-Rupertsberger is the niece of the violinist Leopold Föderl and bequeathed his estate to the archives of the Vienna Philharmonic .
