Helen McEntee ( Irish Héilin Nic an tSaoi , born June 1986 ) is an Irish politician from the Fine Gael .

Life

McEntee grew up in County Meath and attended St Josephs Mercy Secondary School in Navan . She graduated from Dublin City University . After completing her studies, she briefly worked for Citibank .

In the by-election on March 27, 2013 in the constituency of Meath East , she was elected for the Fine Gael in the 31st Dáil Éireann . In doing so, she filled the vacant seat of her late father Shane McEntee . At the next regular election, the 32nd Dáil Éireann, she was able to defend her mandate. She has been Minister of State for European Affairs since June 2017 .

The Gaelic football player and doctor Gerry McEntee is her uncle.
